Explore, Approach, Ask, Follow Up, and Pester: How To Identify New Donors and Seek Support in a Structured Way

Identifying whether a person or company is charitably oriented and shares your worthy cause can be very satisfying. In this session, learn what to look for about charitable intent, reflect on your ask, and plan to craft a strategy for approaching a “would-be” donor. Craft a plan that keeps your outreach relevant and appropriate.

Target Audience: PSO faculty and staff seeking to grow their program’s impact.

Johnathon Barrett, director of development, State Botanical Garden of Georgia
Johnathon is responsible for development at the State Botanical Garden. He served as executive director at UGA’s 4H Foundation and spent several years fundraising for Junior Achievement of Georgia before coming to UGA.
Shirley Allen, associate director of development, Public Service and Outreach
Shirley is responsible for coordinating a broad range of development efforts, particularly annual giving, stewardship, and communications for PSO. She worked at Central Development before coming to PSO, and she spent several years in retail banking before coming to UGA.
Anne Moser, senior director of development, Public Service and Outreach
Anne is responsible for all development at PSO. In addition to strategizing and planning the team’s efforts, she manages the relationship with the broad UGA development community. Anne was the director of development at the UGA School of Law before coming to Public Service and Outreach in 2021.
