GIL Users Group Meeting (GUGM)
We invite you to attend the 18th annual GIL Users Group Meeting (GUGM), Friday, May 18th, at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education on the UGA campus in Athens. There will also be a pre-conference workshop offered the afternoon of Thursday, May 17: “Cataloging in Alma/Primo: A Year Later.” The conference is open to the USG library community.
GALILEO Interconnected Libraries, or GIL, is an extension of the GALILEO initiative, funded by the Governor and the General Assembly of the state of Georgia, to enhance and expand educational opportunities for the citizens of Georgia. The success GALILEO has had in leveling the information access opportunities for the citizens of Georgia extend to University System Libraries through GIL by providing students, faculty and staff expanded access to the information resources of the University System Libraries.
This year’s GIL Users Group Meeting occurs a year after the 2017 Alma implementation and will return to the open-proposal format practiced until 2015. This year’s agenda will reflect the GIL community’s interests and best practices in sessions carefully selected from proposals. Session strands include Access, Acquisitions, Cataloging, Fulfillment, OPAC, and Special Collections.
GIL users are dedicated to excellence, using their creativity to solve problems and address user needs. The GUGM 2018 theme, Collaborative Communities, recognizes this flexibility and resourcefulness, and encourages the USG community to come together to share unique approaches to working in a collaborative, and continually changing environment. (1) A cancellation received by 5:00 p.m. ET on or before May 10, 2018, will be refunded, minus a $35 processing fee. No refunds will be issued thereafter; substitutions will be allowed. (2) To change or cancel your registration, call (706) 542-7493, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. (3) If an event is cancelled for any reason, the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel will not be responsible for any charges related to travel.
Hotel Cost: You will be given the opportunity to make a hotel reservation as you proceed through the online registration process.
